Aprendendo a Servir

Uma vez um menino sentiu vontade de ser bem grande e resolveu procurar alguém que pudesse lhe ensinar como fazer para ser grande, importante.
Saiu andando, andando e, de repente, parou diante de uma árvore enorme e perguntou:
- O que você faz para ser tão grande e forte como você?

- Eu dou frutas, flores, sombra, purifico o ar, agasalho as aves e minha
madeira é muito útil ao homem. Eu sirvo.

O menino continuou sua caminhada, encontrou um grande rio e perguntou:
- E você, o que faz para ser grande?

- Eu levo barcas, abasteço de água as populações, irrigo as terras e forneço inúmeras espécies de peixe. Eu sirvo.

Aquele menino continuava perguntando e prestando atenção às
informações e crescendo com todas as respostas que ouvia:

Da professora - para que a geração jovem aprenda ética, cidadania e tenha educação e instrução. Eu sirvo.

Do médico - para que o homem seja saudável na mente e no corpo.
Eu sirvo.

Do religioso - para construir uma comunidade de irmãos, filhos de Deus
que saibam repartir o pão. Eu sirvo.

Do policial rodoviário - na orientação aos motoristas, na disciplina e na
segurança do trânsito e na prevenção do acidente. Eu sirvo.

Do agricultor - respeitando o meio ambiente e cultivando espécies variadas de alimentos para que ninguém passe fome. Eu sirvo.

Do jornalista - para comunicar tudo com clareza e levar informações exatas e atualizadas ao leitor. Eu sirvo.

Do coletor de lixo - para que a cidade se mantenha com higiene e limpeza. Eu sirvo.

Do urubu - eliminando da superfície da terra todo cadáver não sepultado.
Eu sirvo.

Da abelha - polinizando as flores e fabricando o gostoso mel. Eu sirvo.

Da minhoca - estou sempre caminhando e deixando furos na terra por
onde penetra ar e água, que juntamente com meus resíduos aduba o solo. Eu sirvo.

E o menino não parou... continuou perguntando, pensando e aprendeu que:
- Tudo só é grande quando serve;
- Tudo só é importante quando é útil;
- Tudo só é necessário e essencial quando, de alguma forma, constrói um
mundo melhor.

Ele entendeu e ficou feliz com o que conheceu e disse:
-Quando eu crescer também quero ser grande por isso vou começar hoje
a servir, seja em casa, na escola, na rua, porque para Deus grande é quem serve.

Learning to Serve


Once a boy felt like being big and decided to look for someone who could teach him how to be big, important.

He walked, walked, and suddenly stopped in front of a huge tree and asked:
- What do you do to be as big and strong as you are?

- I give fruits, flowers, shade, purify the air, wrap the birds and my
wood is very useful to man. I serve.

The boy continued his walk, found a large river and asked:
- And you, what do you do to be great?

- I take boats, supply water to populations, irrigate the land and supply countless species of fish. I serve.

That boy kept asking and paying attention to
information and growing with all the answers I heard:

From the teacher - so that the young generation learns ethics, citizenship and has education and instruction. I serve.

From the doctor - so that man is healthy in mind and body.
I serve.

From the religious - to build a community of brothers, children of God
who know how to share the bread. I serve.

From the highway police - in guiding drivers, in discipline and in
traffic safety and accident prevention. I serve.

From the farmer - respecting the environment and cultivating different kinds of food so that no one goes hungry. I serve.

From the journalist - to communicate everything clearly and bring accurate and updated information to the reader. I serve.

The garbage collector - so that the city remains clean and hygienic. I serve.

From the vulture - removing any unburied corpse from the surface of the earth.
I serve.

From the bee - pollinating the flowers and making the tasty honey. I serve.

From the worm - I am always walking and leaving holes in the ground for
where air and water penetrates, which together with my residues fertilizes the soil. I serve.

And the boy didn't stop ... he kept asking, thinking and learned that:
- Everything is only great when it serves;
- Everything is only important when it is useful;
- Everything is only necessary and essential when, somehow, it builds a
better world.

He understood and was happy with what he knew and said:
-When I grow up I also want to be big so I will start today
to serve, whether at home, at school, on the street, because for God the great is who serves.
