O idiota e as esmolas

Conta-se que, em uma cidade do interior, um grupo de pessoas se divertia com um idiota que vivia de pequenos biscates e esmolas.
 
Diariamente eles o chamavam ao bar onde se reuniam oferecendo-lhe a escolha entre duas moedas: uma grande, de 400 réis, e outra menor, de 2.000 réis. Ele sempre escolhia a maior e menos valiosa, o que era motivo de risos para todos.
 
Certo dia, um dos membros do grupo chamou-o e lhe perguntou se ainda não havia percebido que a moeda maior valia menos. Ele respondeu:
 
– Eu sei. Não  sou tão tolo assim. Ela vale quatro vezes menos. Mas, no dia que eu escolher a outra moeda, a brincadeira acaba e não mais ganharei minha moeda.

 
Esta pequena narrativa nos ensina que:
 
1 - Quem parece idiota, nem sempre é;
2 - Se você for ganancioso, acabará desperdiçando sua fonte de renda.
 
Mas a conclusão mais interessante e importante é a percepção de que podemos estar bem, mesmo quando os outros não têm uma boa opinião a nosso respeito. Portanto, o que importa não é o que pensam de nós, mas sim o que realmente somos.
 
A sagacidade de um homem inteligente poderá fazê-lo parecer idiota diante de um homem idiota e presunçoso de ser inteligente.

The fool and the alms

It is said that, in an inner city, a group of people were messing with an idiot who lived from small odd jobs and handouts.
 
Daily they called him to the bar where they met offers you the choice between two currencies: a large, 400 réis, and other minor by 2000 réis. He always chose the biggest and least valuable, what was cause of laughs for all.
 
One day, one of the members of the group called him and asked him if had not yet realized that the greatest currency was worth less. He replied:

This little narrative teaches us that:
 
1-Who looks stupid, not always;
2- If you are greedy, you will end up wasting your source of income.
 
But the most interesting and important conclusion is the perception that we may be right, even when others do not have a good opinion about us. So, what will matter is not what you think of us, but what we really are.
 
The wit of a smart man can make him look stupid in front of a man stupid and presumptuous to be smart.
