In Brooklyn, New York, Chush is a school dedicated to the education of special children. Some children remain there throughout school life, while others may be forwarded to a common school.
At a charity dinner, the father of a Chush child delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by those who were present there.
After praising the school and its dedicated staff asked:
-Where's the perfection in my son Pedro, if everything God does is done with perfection? My son cannot understand things as other children understand. My son cannot remember facts and figures like the other kids. So, where's the perfection of God?
Everyone was shocked by the question and the suffering that dad, but he continued:
– I believe that when God brings a child into the world, the perfection he seeks is in the way people react in the face of this kid.
Then, he told the following story about her son Pedro.
One afternoon, Peter and I we walked through the park where some boys who knew him were playing baseball. Peter asked me:
-Dad, you think they'd let me play?
I know the limitations of my son and that most kids didn't want him on the team. But I understood that if Peter could play with them, this would give you a comfortable feeling of participation. I approached one of the boys on the field and asked him if Peter could play. The boy gave a look around, seeking the approval of his teammates and even failing no approval, claimed responsibility and said:
-We're losing by six rounds and the game in the eighth. I think he can get in our team and we will try to get him to hit until the ninth inning.
I was surprised when Peter opened a big smile when he heard the boy's response. They asked that he wear matching glove and went to the field to play. At the end of the eighth round, the team of Pedro scored some points, but was still down by 3. At the end of the ninth inning, the team scored again and now potentially the decisive round, Pedro was scheduled to continue. A question, though, came to my mind: the team would leave Pedro in fact swing in this circumstance, eliminating the chance of winning the game?
Surprisingly, it was given the baton to Peter. Everyone knew this would be nearly impossible, because he didn't even know hold the bat. However, when Peter took the position, the quarterback moved a few steps to throw the ball so that Peter could just swing. Was made the first shot and Pedro shook awkwardly and missed.
One of the companions of the team of Peter came to him and together held the stick and faced the pitcher. The pitcher gave again a few steps to launch the ball gently to Peter. When the lance, Pedro and his companion of lurched the bat team and together the slow ball Launcher countersued. The pitcher picked up the soft ball and could have easily launched the first baseman, eliminating Pedro and ending the game.
However, instead, the pitcher picked up the ball and threw it in a long curve and high for the field, away from the reach of first baseman. Then everyone started screaming for that Peter ran to first base.
Never in his life he went ... But raised to the baseline, wide-eyed and scared. Until he reached first base, right player had possession of the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the second baseman, which would put Pedro out of play because he was still running. But the player understand what are the intentions of the Launcher, and so launched the ball high and far above the head of the third baseman.
Once again, everyone shouted for that Peter ran to second base. When Peter reached second base, the short stop opponent put it toward third base and all of both teams, ran after him screaming and encouraging him to run for the main base.
Peter ran to the main base, stepped on it and all 18 kids raised on the shoulders making him the hero, as if he had won the Championship and won the game for his team.
-That day-said the father, with tears falling on the face-those 18 boys reached the perfection of God. I've never seen a smile so beautiful in the face of my son!
